How to Host Missionary Families at Your Church

Hosting missionary families at your church can be a wonderful opportunity to support and encourage those who are serving on the front lines of spreading the gospel. Whether you're a seasoned host or new to the process, there are a few key things to keep in mind to make the experience a meaningful and successful one for both the missionaries and your church community.

1 Plan ahead:

Give the missionaries plenty of notice about their visit to your church, and coordinate with them to schedule the visit at a time that works for everyone. This will give you ample time to prepare and promote their visit, and ensure that there are no conflicts with other church events.

2 Communicate with the missionaries:

Find out what the missionaries' needs are, and communicate this information to your church community. Ask about their preferences for food, housing, and transportation, and be sure to discuss any special needs they may have (such as dietary restrictions).

3 Encourage involvement:

Encourage your church members to get involved in supporting the missionaries during their visit. You might ask individuals or families to provide housing or meals, or organize a potluck or other event in their honor.

4 Make them feel welcomed:

When the missionaries arrive, make sure they feel welcomed and at home. Provide them with a warm greeting, and be sure to introduce them to your church community. You might also consider giving them a tour of your church and surrounding area, and show them where they can find the resources they need.

5 Provide opportunities to share:

Give the missionaries ample opportunity to share about their ministry, and be sure to provide them with a platform to do so. You might organize a special meeting, host a potluck or other event, or simply allow them to share during your regular worship service.

6 Show appreciation:

After the missionaries have completed their visit, take a moment to express your appreciation for their ministry and their time at your church. You might consider sending a thank-you note or gift, or making a contribution to their ministry.

Hosting missionary families at your church can be a rewarding and enriching experience for everyone involved. By following these tips, you can ensure that the experience is a positive one for both the missionaries and your church community.
