October 2023 Prayer Letter
As I take a few minutes to write this letter, I'm filled with gratitude. Today is not only my birthday, but also a milestone that is very important to Jenny and me – 16 years of serving as missionaries in Mexico. It's a privilege to represent you, our faithful supporters, who have played a significant role in making our ministry possible.
Sixteen years ago today, on my 25th birthday, Jenny and I crossed the border into Mexico in our trusty little pickup truck and a small cargo trailer to spread the Gospel and plant churches in Mexico. The decision to move to this beautiful country was not made lightly, but it was a calling from the Lord that we could not ignore. We've been blessed and humbled to witness His work unfold in the lives of the people we serve and in our own lives as well.
Our mission has been to train nationals to plant churches. By equipping local leaders and workers, we have seen God's hand in action. The churches in which we've played a part in planting have become vibrant communities of faith, and we've seen lives transformed. It's amazing to see how the seeds we've planted over the years have grown strong and taken root.
Through trials and triumphs, God's faithfulness has been evident in our hearts and minds. We've faced real challenges and opposition, learned from our own mistakes, and celebrated moments of joy. Throughout it all, your support for our family has been unwavering and has become the bedrock and foundation of our mission. We could not have come this far without you!
Looking ahead, we're filled with dreams, purpose, and hope. There is much work to do, and people need the Lord. We are excited about the future as we continue to win souls, baptize, disciple, train, and empower local pastors to lead in their communities.
As we celebrate this dual milestone – my birthday and 16 years of missionary service – we would like to take a moment to express our deep appreciation for each one of you. Your prayers, financial support, and encouragement have been our constant companions for 16 years. We thank God for your faithfulness and love.
Please continue to keep us in your prayers as we move forward. Pray for the people of Mexico, that their hearts will be open to the Gospel. Pray for the churches we've played a part in planting, that they may continue to grow.
In closing, we want to say that while this letter serves as an update on our mission, it is also a heartfelt thank you for being our partners on this incredible journey. As we look forward to the years ahead, we trust that God will continue to use us and all of you to further His kingdom.
Yours in His service,
Jonathan Ashcraft
