October 2024 Prayer Letter

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Greetings from Monterrey, Mexico! October has been an exciting month filled with milestones and blessings, and we are thrilled to share them with you.

Celebrating 17 Years on the Mission Field

On October 17, 2024, we celebrated 17 years of serving the Lord here in Mexico. It’s humbling to reflect on all that God has done over the years. Since moving here in 2007, we have seen countless lives transformed by the gospel, thousands of people saved, and many of our Bible institute graduates go on to plant churches throughout Mexico. We couldn’t have imagined the journey God had planned for us when we first arrived, but we are so grateful for every moment—both the challenges and the triumphs.

Mexico has truly become home for us. Our four children were born here, and it’s been a joy to raise them in the mission field where we’ve witnessed God’s hand at work time and again. As we look to the future, our prayer is to continue expanding the ministry, equipping more church planters, and reaching even more souls for Christ.

Fall Semester Updates

This month, our students at the Mount Hebron Baptist Bible Institute have continued in their studies, both in person and online. With 77 enrolled students, we are training men and women to take the gospel to Mexico and beyond. Many of these students are preparing to plant churches, while others feel called to serve as missionaries. It is exciting to see how God is using this next generation of leaders.

Ministry Needs

We are still working to complete the renovation of the men’s dormitory before the cold North Mexican winter sets in. Thanks to your generosity, we’ve raised $2,500 of the $10,000 needed for this project. With these funds, we’ve been able to purchase half of the flooring materials and the essentials for two of the four bathrooms, including showers and toilets. However, we still need $7,500 to finish the project and provide a warm, safe space for our students this winter.

Additionally, we need to enclose our open-air dining hall with drywall before the colder mornings arrive. This smaller project requires about $1,500 to complete, and we’re praying for the resources to get it done before the end of October. Your prayers and support for these needs would mean so much to us and the students we serve.

Mount Hebron Baptist Church Growth

We are excited to share that Mount Hebron Baptist Church continues to experience growth! Our average attendance has increased by over 20% compared to last year, and almost every Sunday, we’ve seen people saved, make public professions of faith, and follow the Lord in baptism. This is a testament to God’s power and the faithfulness of His people.

Fall Campaign: A Harvest of Blessings

We are preparing for a special nine-week Fall Campaign with the theme, "A Harvest of Blessings." This campaign will focus on inviting visitors, seeing people saved, and encouraging public professions of faith and baptisms. Please join us in praying for this campaign, that it will be fruitful and that our congregation will be inspired to step up as laborers for the harvest. Our church has a growing need for more Sunday School teachers, bus workers, and children’s ministry volunteers.

Prayer Requests

  • Dormitory Renovation: Pray for the remaining $7,500 needed to complete this project.

  • Dining Hall Enclosure: Pray for the $1,500 needed to enclose the dining hall before the cold weather arrives.

  • Fall Campaign: Pray for our “Harvest of Blessings” campaign, that many will come to Christ and that our church will catch the vision for serving.

  • Ministry Growth: Pray for our students, our graduates planting churches, and the continued growth of Mount Hebron Baptist Church.

Thank you for your prayers and faithful support. As we reflect on these 17 years, we are reminded that none of this would be possible without the love and encouragement of friends and churches like you. Your partnership in the gospel is making an eternal impact, and we are excited to continue serving the Lord together.

In Christ,

Jonathan and Jenny Ashcraft
